Mantissa is a printed journal of poetry, established and created in Naarm / Melbourne.
We are a curation of works that aim to celebrate writing and literature as something that simply ‘is’. We encourage submissions from all veins of written work, from whatever you, as the writer, feel is ‘poetry’.
The poetry that Mantissa publishes is ‘other’. It is what floats behind and around the literature that aims to erupt. We hope this gives voice to, perhaps, ideas less spoken.
‘Mantissa’ by definition, is the fractional part of a floating point. It is the addition of comparatively small importance. Mantissa Poetry Review is a publication of words and art, whispers and gestures, little nothings and sweeping somethings. Both fictional and non-fictional works are encouraged.
Mantissa Poetry Review acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We would like to acknowledge the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which this journal was created. We encourage readers to consider their space and place as well.
